David A. Joyce

David A. Joyce – Founder / Senior Counsel

David graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1997 and was called to the British Columbia bar in 1998 after articling at Edwards Kenny and Bray in Vancouver, British Columbia. He spent six years as an associate at Quinlan Abrioux [now QALaw] focussing on insurance defence for both the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia and the Lawyers’ Insurance Fund, in addition to doing some plaintiff and administrative law.  David then joined the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia as inhouse counsel. 

While at ICBC, David worked in Claims Legal Services as both counsel and manager, and managed ICBC's Privacy and Freedom of Information Department for three years. Prior to opening Joyce Law in February 2020, David practiced family law at the Vancouver office of MacLean Law in downtown Vancouver.

In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with his family and gardening amongst his chickens, honey bees, and cats.  He also is a singer/guitarist who performs at charity events such as the Lawyers' Benevolent Fund Battle of the Bar Bands at the Commodore Ballroom, the March of Dimes' Rock for Dimes, and the Father's Day Walk/Run for Prostate Cancer at Burnaby Lake.
